Housed in the former Orsay railway station on the left bank, dating from 1898, the Musée d’Orsay holds the greatest impressionist masterpieces such as Manet’s ‘Olympia’, Degas’ ‘Little Dancer’ and Courbet’s ‘L’atelier du peintre’.
In 1887, Gustave Eiffel won the competition to build a tower for the Universal Exhibition in 1889 – the Eiffel Tower.
The Arc de Triomphe was built in 1806 and is located on the Place de l’Etoile. It is included in France’s national monuments of historical significance.
