The Madeleine Church was inaugurated in 1842 after 85 years of work. It replaces an old chapel, much smaller, located a few meters from its current position.

Madeleine appeals to visitors by its very different architecture than the churches that we know. Indeed, with its large columns, it recalls the ancient Greek temples. This architecture has been demanded by Napoleon 1st to honour the French Armed Forces.

Today, the church welcomes in its vault many classical music concerts and temporary exhibitions throughout the year. Central monument of the eponymous square, it is surrounded by many luxury shops and landmarks of French gastronomy.

A few steps away, the first private museum in Paris, the Pinacotheque offers prestigious exhibitions.
