Monticelli Foundation Marseille

The Monticelli Foundation has been named after Adolphe Monticelli, a great French painter born in Marseille in 1824.

The "Fortin de Corbières" ("Corbiere small fort") hosts the Monticelli Foundation. Its location is outstanding as it overlooks the Estaque and the harbour of Marseille. This 400 sq.-meter building was built in the nineteenth century. You will discover a wonderful collection of Monticelli's most beautiful works.

You will be able to follow the evolution of the artist through the History of Art and to see his influence on many artists such as Vincent Van Gogh. His style of painting made him a pioneer of Impressionism

Various art exhibitions and conferences are regularly organized in the Monticelli Museum. This place is also used for conferences, seminars and evening events for professionals.
