The Friche Belle de Mai Marseille

The "Friche la Belle de Mai" is a symbol of artistic creation and hosts many cultural events representing various artistic fields throughout the year.

 

The "Friche Belle de Mai" was built on the old Tobacco Factory of Marseille and was opened to the public in 1992. 

 

Between production and broadcast, cultural activities held at the Friche are numerous et multidisciplinary. Everyone can find his happiness through the different shows: plays, dance, music, contemporary art, radio, circus or literatureIn addition, a free-access Street Park has opened in 2009 where contests and skate races are organised throughout the year.

On the occasion of the European Capital of Culture, the Friche is developping. Indeed, a space dedicated to visual arts and performing arts is born. We can also mention the "Tour Panorama" ("Panorama Tower") and its 4000-sq.-metre space dedicated to contemporary art. The Warehouse building has been changed into offices and studios for artists and producers with the creation of a 7500-sq.-metre dedicated space. Finally, the 8000-sq.-metre terrace has been renovated and is open to the public!

In total, it consists of a 45,000 sq.-metre public areas, gathers 70 organizations and represents 500 events and 150,000 visitors per year!
