The "M Pavilion" ("Pavillon M") is part of the novelties of Marseille as it opened on January,12th 2013. This ephemeral 3000 sq. meter structure has been built for the occasion of Marseille Provence 2013.
As European Capital of Culture in 2013, Marseille hosts a large number of cultural events and many structures are built or renovated for the occasion. In this context, it was necessary to offer the public a place for information and promotion of the territory.
Located in the heart of the Old Port, the M Pavilion consists of an information desk for the public, a cultural and economic platform, an exhibition space, a place of communication and a place of cultural activities. It is a real place for exchanges and conviviality. The M Pavilion is based on the model of pavilions built for the Universal Exhibition it is a true showcase of the know-how of Marseille and its territory.
This iconic wooden and transparent building is part of a sustainable development approach since all its components are reusable and recyclable.
