Calanques of Marseille
The Calanques extend from the Goudes to Cassis, making up the coastline of Marseilleveyre and Puget massives.
The inlet is hollowed out from resistant chalk and its sea water is seriously fresh since its numerous streams run straight into the sea under its surface via an underground network which gathers together the rippling sounds of the highlands.
You can easily stroll around the inlets as all the paths are signposted. The best known ramble is the GR 51 which crosses the Calanques group of mountains from the west to the east. Due to numerous fires, access to this group of mountains is restricted in summer.
