Le Fort Saint Louis – Tour des Vignettes
Was constructed to defend the harbour of Toulon at the end of XVIIème century while strengthening the city and enlarging the arsenal.
It was initially named the Fort des Vignettes but when it was partially rebuilt in the XVIIIe century then took its current name. Today the fort is used by the water Club of the Navy and is not open to the public.
These days its illuminations are celebrated each 15th August by a magnificent display of fireworks.
