Jade, promise of eternity Marseilles
From 07/11/2014 to 01/02/2015
From November 7th to February 1st, 2015, the exhibition “Jade, promise of eternity” takes place in Chateau Borély, Museum of decorative Arts, Earthenware and Trend in Marseilles. This exhibition symbolizes the 50th birthday of the links between China and France.
The jade is the most precious stone for Chinese. Still not really known in Occident, this mysterious stone has several facets. It is the equivalent of two stones: nephritis and jadeite.
Ocher or yellow, grey or deeply black, this jewel combines work and wisdom. Present since Neolithic, the jade was cut into dragon or fish, symbol of prosperity in Chinese traditions. A few centuries later, jade is worn on clothes or directly as jewels.
Nearly two hundred pieces will be exhibited thanks to Jeff Hxu’s collection: calligraphies, paintings on silk, porcelains…
The jade is the symbol of moral virtues in China.
