The 50s exhibition Paris
From 12/07/2014 to 02/11/2014
The Palais Galliera offers for 3 months and a half an exhibition on 50s fashion. Through models and accessories from the Fashion Museum’s collections, the exhibition traces the evolution of the "New Look" collection of Christian Dior until 1957.
This first collection of famous designer Christian Dior reflects the dynamism known at the time by the fashion industry. Indeed, after the crisis of 29 and the Second World War, the French Haute Couture knows a revival. Fath, Balmain, Cardin, Givenchy and Chanel enable Paris to become the world capital of fashion again.
It is also at this time we observe the beginnings of ready-to-wear thanks to legal copies. Then, Haute Couture goes down the street, an innovation for the time.
