Exhibitions

The City of Brussels’ Museum offers on the occasion of the centenary of the Great War, an exhibition tracing the lives of civilians under German occupation during World War I.

From August 20, 1914, Brussels is found under an oppressive German occupation regime that will end 50 months later. Through photos, objects, leaflets and caricatures, the exhibition will provide its visitors with the life atmosphere at the time when the economy was paralyzed and the population living in a precarious situation.

Finally, it will also highlight how the war changed the Belgian society after four years at the German time.
